How to Have your Say

Consultation
A considerable level of consultation was undertaken before and during preparation of the Environmental Statement, which was then submitted to support the various consent applications.

A formal consultation process was undertaken by DTI, Defra and the onshore planning authorities Swale Borough Council and Canterbury City Council during 2005. We have now received the views of all the key organisations and are in ongoing discussions with them to resolve as many issues as we can.

We have received a number of comments from other organisations, and members of the public, and these are always welcome. As well as expressing overall views on the project, your constructive contributions may help to adjust particular aspects of the proposed project and, if given, the shape of final approvals.

The website
This website provides the latest information on the project and a variety of related documents are available for download.

There is also a Questions & Answers (FAQ) facility that we will update from time to time to reflect the most commonly asked questions.

If the FAQ does not answer your queries, the Contact us facility also allows you to send through comments or to raise queries on the proposal.

Formal Consultation
The planning authorities and the DTI carried out a formal consultation process in June/July 2005 following submission of the London Array applications. All key consultees, other bodies and members of the public were given the opportunity to have their say on the project proposals.

Planning Authority
Swale Borough Council is the key planning authority for the onshore and near shore works (the onshore substation, access road, associated works and cabling). Canterbury City Council is the planning authority concerned with a section of cabling within their jurisdiction offshore. The planning authorities consulted on the planning applications that they received.

Public Exhibitions
Public exhibitions were advertised in local papers and have been held to provide further information on the project. An exhibition was held for the community around Graveney on 27th and 28th February 2005, before any application was made for planning. A further exhibition was held on 17th and 18th June 2005 after applications had been made. In both exhibitions, the emphasis was on the onshore substation proposals.

Wider exhibitions were also held in the following locations:

Whitstable (The Horsebridge Centre): Wednesday 22nd June 2005
Margate (Margate Media Centre): Wednesday 29th June 2005
Clacton (Essex Hall): Friday 8th July 2005
