An internationally renowned firm of architects, RMJM, has been appointed to provide an alternative design for the proposed substation at Cleve Hill. The choice of RMJM followed a design competition for the project, run by the Kent Architecture Centre, a course of action that was recommended by officers at Swale Borough Council.

London Array has now provided Supplementary Environmental Information that includes a description of the alternative design. This supplements the formal Environmental Statement that accompanied the original planning application in June 2005 and contained the formal assessment of the environmental effects of the original proposals.

Both the initial and updated designs will be considered at the forthcoming public inquiry.
