Foundation types that have been considered for London Array phase one include:
• Steel monopile - a hollow diameter steel cylinder driven into the seabed
• Gravity base foundation - a large concrete/steel structure that sits on the seabed
• Tripod foundation - a frame with three or more legs pinned to the seabed, usually using driven steel piles

It is expected that steel monopile foundations will be used in phase one.
